The local approach
An on-device tool reads and rewrites data on your own device. Core cleaning can work without a network connection. You still depend on the app and operating system, but do not need to send the file to a remote processor.
The cloud approach
A cloud cleaner receives your file on a server. That can enable heavier processing, but adds questions about retention, access, location and deletion. Read the service’s policies before uploading sensitive content.
The boundary matters
MetaQuiet processes locally. Your file picker may still access a cloud drive, and a destination you select for sharing may upload the clean copy. The local-cleaning promise covers the cleaning step; it does not control other apps.
